Meet shelby

 Shelby Marcoccia is a registered social worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers.  

 Shelby has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, a Bachelor of Social Work Degree and Master of Social Work Degree with a health specialization. Shelby has additional training in trauma-informed practices and has a Trauma Certificate from Wilfrid Laurier University. 

Shelby has worked as a social worker/counsellor since 2018.  Her experience includes working with children, teens, adults, families and couples. Shelby has worked in a non-profit counselling setting, private practice,  for Alberta Health Services and spent several years working for the public service prior to entering the social work field. 

Shelby has worked with a wide range of populations, cultures and backgrounds. Shelby has a particular interest in working with those experiencing depression and anxiety symptoms, grief, loss, stress management, struggles with healthy eating patterns, a history of traumatic experiences and relationship concerns.   

 Shelby takes a warm and personable approach to working with her clients.  Shelby will work with you to get to know your unique needs and goals when deciding which therapeutic approaches to use.  Shelby strives to find a balance in helping you process past issues with finding realistic coping skills for current struggles. 

Shelby has training in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), play therapy techniques, the Gottman Method, emotion-focused therapy and is qualified to provide Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
